Jessica Downing-Ford
JAH-seek-Ah (Jessica Downing-Ford) has been a member of the KAFM family since 2002. She first worked under the director of development on underwriting, learning the inner workings of community radio. A natural born cheerleader, Jessica has spent many a fund drive Rabble-Rousing on-air, encouraging the community to support their radio station, as well as supporting the programmers. She currently serves on the Community Advisory Board.
Community radio has been a passion of Jessica‘s family. Her first child, Elijah, chose the moniker Rubick’s Cube when he started programming at age 11. Her daughter, Marli, could be heard giving station IDs as Princess Valentine since before she attended preschool. “We love the social aspects of KAFM. It has been a great place to raise a family”. In 2016 all three performed in the radio broadcast of “It’s A Wonderful Life..”
Through out her tenure she has programmed the Global Groove— which was originally called “Going Global,”.
“Since the first time, I heard the Gipsy Kings, Bamboleo, I have loved world music. Because of my background in dance I’m always looking for a great beat or a hypnotic rhythm. I prefer the Sunday morning time slot because people are downshifted, open, likely more present with the music I’m playing. Because of this I work hard to broadcast the most positive and uplifting show possible. It is my honor and privilege to be your Sunday morning soundtrack.” -- Jah-Seek-A
