Amy On The Rocks

Living Out Loud with Amy On The Rocks

I was born in Southern California in 1969 into a pretty wild hippy/Harley environment. Our home was filled with music around the clock and we went to all the festivals and local jams. I grew up listening to the classic rock of the 70s. My first 8 track was The Who; Who’s Next and my first LP was Led Zeppelin I. I adopted punk/new wave in middle school in the early 80s. Mom moved us to Georgia my sophomore year of high school and I went back to my rock n roll roots with heavy metal while working at a record store my senior year.  Made many friends in bands and followed and photographed them in the local clubs and on tour.  During the 90’s I was introduced to and obsessed with Industrial Rock and Goth.
A move back to California, San Francisco and Oakland area turned me onto everything from a variety of world music to trip hop to alternative and anything edgy and non commercial. After several moves back and forth across the country, I am so fortunate to land here on the Western Slope where I think I’ll stay.
I met my husband, Matthew, 12 years ago in GA and with a mutual love of mtn biking and the outdoor lifestyle we decided to load up and head back out west, my true home.  Matthew got on with the Grand Junction Fire Department and I set up my Rolfing practice and we are both thriving.
Last year a client shared with me that she is a volunteer DJ at KAFM. I thought “how freaking cool!” So I began listening to our community radio every chance I got. And here I am.
Somewhere along the way my mom dubbed me with this quote by Emile Zola “If you ask me what I came into this world to do; I will tell you, I came to Live Out Loud”
Which is what I plan to do, bringing you some of the most unique heavy hitting rock, trip hop and alternative music I can find. And of course many of the classics from the 70s and 80s.

I love the people, I love the music, I LOVE this gig! Thanks for having me, I’m happy to be here!
